Obituary

Alberta Lafary, 94, of Paxton died at 2:05 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at Paxton Healthcare & Rehab, Paxton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the Church of The Nazarene, 302 W. State Street, Paxton with Rev. Robert Killion and Rev. Rachel Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Alberta was born June 26, 1922 in Calhoun County the daughter of Arch and Mary Jane Peacock Whisman. She married James "Paul" Lafary on June 21, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He survives.

Along with her husband, Paul, she is survived by one son, David Lafary of Paxton; four grandchildren; a son-in-law, Marvin Bunde of Hillsboro, Tennessee and a sister, Betty Philipson of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Danny Lafary, a daughter, Ruth Ann Bunde; two great grandsons; one brother and six sisters.

Alberta was a member of the Church of The Nazarene, Paxton and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of TOPPS for many years. She enjoyed quilting and made 300 quilts for Prison Ministry. Alberta was well known for her peanut brittle and apple butter.
