Alice June Vest, 89, of Buckley died at 1:28 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Paxton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main Street, Buckley with Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Buckley. Baier Family Funeral Services, Buckley is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 306 E Lincoln Street, Buckley and one hour before the funeral service at the church on Wednesday.

Alice was born June 10, 1928 in Buckley the daughter of Arthur and Frieda Kuester Blanck. She married Leo L. Vest May 6, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley. He preceded her in death January 29, 1996.

She is survived by a son, Gary (Judy) Vest of Morton; two daughters, Sherry (Mark) Pettegrew of Champaign, Terri (John) Kelly of Danvers; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Irene Hilligoss of Rantoul and Jean Boyer of Florida.

She was preceded in death of her parents and husband.

Alice graduated from Buckley High School in 1946. She was a financial manager at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul and retired after 38 years.


She was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley, sang in the church choir for 50 years and held several different positions on the church board. Alice enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and working on crossword puzzles.
