Allen J. "Skip" K9UXC" Gharst, 87, of Loda passed away at 9:56 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda with Rev. John Hauck officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Loda American Legion Post 503. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Skip was born September 30, 1934 in Iroquois County the son of James Harrison and Mary Jane Nordstrom Gharst. He married Joyce Knapp in 1958. She survives.

Along with his wife Joyce, he is survived by his children, Shirley Holliday of Dixon, Karen (Randy) Tucker of Dixon, Greg Holliday of Dixon, Alisa Gharst of Champaign, Chris Gharst of Loda; six grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Zach, Taylor, Andrew, Colton; seven great grandchildren; brother, Terry (Janice) Gharst of Seymour; and step-siblings, Candy (Billy) Tallent and David Berry.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Skip proudly served in the United States Army spending time in Germany. He worked Civil Service at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul for many years.

Ham radios were his passion in life, along with computers.
