Arliss "Joyce" Brown, 83 of Rantoul, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Accolade Senior Living, Paxton.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, January 5, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 401 Glenwood Drive, Rantoul with Pastor Dan DeWitt officiating.  Private family burial will be held in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be two hours before the service from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.  Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Joyce was born April 26, 1939, in Buckley the daughter of Gustav H. and Frieda J. Schroeder Mueller.  She married Robert Lee Brown April 20, 1958, at the First Lutheran Church, Paxton.  He survives.

Along with her husband, Bob, she is survived by one son Brian (Virginia) Brown of Rantoul; two daughters Laurie (Paul) Henningsen of Mesa, Arizona, Susan Howie of Gilbert, Arizona; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two sisters Nyla Starr of Burlingame, California and Bonnie Phelps of Mapleton, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and one brother.

Joyce graduated from Paxton High School in 1957.  She worked for R.E.A., Paxton for two years and then did painting and wallpapering in the Paxton area for a number of years.  She and her husband owned and operated Brown's Amoco, Rantoul where she did the bookkeeping.  They lived in Gridley, Rankin and Paxton before moving to Rantoul in 1982.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rantoul, the Red Hat Society and the Ladies Golf League.  Joyce enjoyed playing dominos and started the domino's club in Rantoul.  She loved nature and being outdoors enjoying the birds, flowers, going on walks and riding her bike.  She and her husband wintered in Arizona for many years and while there, she was a member of a Hiking Club.
