Arnold F. "Arn" Schuldt, 92, a lifelong Buckley resident, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Paxton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 206 E Main Street, Buckley with Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery with military honors by the Buckley American Legion Byron A. Hickerson Post 432.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at the church and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Baier Family Funeral Services, Buckley is handling arrangements.
Arnold was born November 26, 1924 in Buckley the son of Carl and Minnie Salmon Schuldt. He married Geraldine "Gerry" Lessman on August 17, 1947 in Buckley. She survives.
Along with his wife, Gerry, he is survived by three sons, Terry (Barb) Schuldt, Tim Schuldt, Tom (Julie) Schuldt, all of Buckley; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; a sister, Dorothy Kanosky of Kankakee; a brother, Bill (Mildred) Schuldt of Buckley and two sisters-in-law, Mary Schuldt of Tennessee and Verla Schuldt of Kankakee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Gilbert, Elmer and Ray Schuldt.
Arn graduated from Buckley High School in 1942. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater, Guam and Iwo Jima and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was an insurance sales representative for Aid Association for Lutherans for 25 years.
He was a member and former president of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley, a member of the Buckley American Legion Byron A. Hickerson Post 432, the Buckley VFW, the Buckley Village Board and the Buckley Sportsman's Club. He was also a former Buckley fireman.
Arn enjoyed fishing, hunting and all sports especially baseball.
