Arthur "Art" Ray Combest, age 87 of Rantoul, IL, went to be with the Lord at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Autumn Leaves, Savoy, IL.
Art was born in Paxton, IL on December 30, 1936. He was the son of Walter Ray and Mildred Edith Curry Combest. He attended Rantoul schools and was a lifetime resident of Rantoul, IL. Art was the owner of C & S Disposal, partner in Diamond Rentals, Inc., and real estate. Art enjoyed working with builders to build homes for re-sale and rentals. He loved being a boss and telling his employees what to do.
In the past he owned the number "27" sprint car and loved watching his car and drivers' race. He enjoyed watching college basketball and football (especially Illinois vs. Purdue), NFL, NASCAR, playing checkers, and betting on the games with his daughter by marriage.
Surviving are his fiancé Sherry Brown, Children, Steve Combest (wife: April), Rod Combest (wife: Julie), and Karen Coffin (husband: Ron), sister, Barb Brackney (husband: Dale), 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by his parents.
The visitation will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church, 3105 County Rd 1700 E, Rantoul, IL 61866 on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 10:30 – 11:30 followed by services with Pastor Mark Wilkerson officiating.
Art will be laid to rest at the Maplewood Cemetery, N Century Dr., Rantoul, IL.
The Celebration of Life to follow funeral at VFW Rantoul/Paxton Post 6750, 675 N Ohio Ave, Rantoul, IL 61866.
