Barbara A.  Cheek, 95 of Rantoul, passed away at 7:36 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, 200 W. Arnold, Thomasboro with Rev. Micheal Stoerger officiating.  A private burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Rantoul.

Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the church.  Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Barbara was born August 29, 1929, in Anacortes, Washington the daughter of Earl D. and Bertha Mary Sparks Townsend.  She married George L. Cheek.

She is survived by a daughter, Diana Cheek of Tennessee, one son, Dennis (Lori) Cheek of rural Rantoul; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Roger and Dale Cheek and a sister, Wilma Anderson.

Barbara graduated from Anacortes High School in 1948.  She attended Parkland College Basic Arrhythmia Class and then worked as a Unit Secretary in the Critical Care Unit at Burnham Hospital and Covenant Medical Center, Urbana for 22 ½ years, retiring in 1997.  Prior to working as a unit secretary, she and her husband owned and operated the Triangle Trailer Court in Ludlow for 15 years.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Thomasboro and the Ladies Aid.  She enjoyed counted cross stitch, reading and working on her computer.
