Funeral services for Benjamin "Bennie" Lee Dover, Paxton, Illinois, will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Evangelical Covenant Church, 260 S Union Street, Paxton, Illinois, 60957 with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Ben passed away August 27, 2019 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Illinois.

Ben was born February 10, 1953 in Paxton, Illinois to Hilda Louise Hanson and William Lowell Dover, attending elementary and graduating high school in Paxton.

He retired as a Land Surveyor.

Ben was a huge sports fan, always watching the Fighting Illini, Chicago Cubs and any other sports group.

Ben loved playing euchre with his family and friends. There was never a time when the family was playing cards that there weren't snacks around, always munching on something. He loved nothing more than when all his sisters and families would come to the farm house. You could usually find Ben in the garage tinkering or fixing something. He loved collecting trains and matchbox cars, which he had hundreds of. He was a very caring brother and uncle. Ben loved being around his family and friends as much as possible. He was a quiet man but once he spoke you heard him.

Not only was Ben a selfless man with his church, but in all aspects of life.

Survivors include his sisters; Diane Bennett of Cape Canaveral, Florida, Linda (Michael) Carl of Salina, Kansas, Marylin (Brian) Jones of Ottawa, Illinois, Beverly (John) Jones of Oxford, Arkansas, nieces; Amber Carl of Lenexa, Kansas, Jordan Jones of Ottawa, Illinois, Alexis Runyan of Oxford, Arkansas, nephews; Jason Carl of Salina, Kansas, Michael (Jared Covert) Carl of Lenexa, Kansas, Bryce Jones of Ottawa, Illinois, great-nephew, Brayden Peed of Ottawa, Illinois, and a huge host of close friends.

Ben was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Dover in 2000, father, William Dover in 1976, brother, Robert Dover in 2019, nephew, Jeremy Carl in 2000, brother's-in-law; David Bennett in 2006 and Jeremy Runyan in 2012.
