Obituary

Bernard D. Shore, 92, of Urbana died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Clark Lindsey, Urbana.

Bernie was born January 15, 1932, in Chicago.  At age nine Bernie moved to a farm near Houghton, SD, where he attended a one-room, country school.  He graduated from Groton High School in Groton, SD, and later studied two and one-half years at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Watha S. Shore, of Urbana, his son, David Shore (Reenie) of Raleigh, NC, two stepsons, Steven Anderson (Kristin) of Plano, TX, and Daniel Anderson (Denise) of Central, SC, two sisters, Ellen Boyce, Shelby, OH, and Linda Terrell (Roger), Lincoln, NE, and three grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb and Hayden Anderson.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis R. Shore, his parents, Ferdinand B. and Elsie Shore, two younger brothers, John and Raymond Shore, and an older sister Kathleen Brown.

Bernie served four years, 1950-1954, in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, earning the rank of S/Sgt.  In 1952 he was stationed in Seoul, Korea with the 10th Liaison Squadron.  He was President of Shore Sales, Inc. and of Shore Advertising, Inc., retiring in 1997.

There will be a private graveside service with military rights at Glen Cemetery, Paxton, Illinois.  Arrangements are being handled by Baier Family Funeral Service, 406 E. P ells Street, Paxton, Illinois.

The family would like to thank the Clark Lindsey Village staff for their wonderful care during his transition.
