Bernice E. Loschen, 97 of Urbana formerly of Flatville, died at 12:23 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Kopmann Cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours before the funeral service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is handling arrangements.
Bernice was born August 31, 1927, in Champaign County the daughter of John Henry and Grace Hinrichs Franzen. She married Ralph R. Loschen August 31, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville. He preceded her in death September 7, 2010.
She is survived by her son, Norlyn Loschen of Champaign; four daughters, Lauralynn Smith of Savoy, Jacqueline Loschen of Urbana, Stephanie Brophy of Urbana, Lisa Loschen of Urbana; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Bobby Loschen; twin grandsons; grandson, Lance Loschen, great-great grandson, Baylor Chavers; son-in-law, Jack Smith, daughter-in-law, Karen Loschen; brother Norman Franzen; sisters Annetta Frerichs, Erna Mennenga, Evelyn Paul and Lucille Ryan.
Bernice graduated from Rantoul Twp. High School. She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville and their oldest member. Bernice never lost faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and sought God and his communion till the very end.
She was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls and Illini fan. She loved a good game of Euchre and spending time with her family and many friends. Bernice was a very giving person and will be missed by all those who knew her.
