Bert L. Bowen, 68 of Paxton, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Pastor Adam Wood and Pastor Robert Killion officiating. A private family burial will be held at Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, August 23, at the funeral home and also Tuesday one hour before the funeral from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Bert was born November 21, 1952 in Danville the son of Bert W. and Harriett Louise Clem Bowen. He married Charlotte Foster April 20, 1973 at the Paxton Church of the Nazarene. She survives.

Along with his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by two sons, Jason Bowen of Paxton, Dan (Dawn) Bowen of St. Joseph, a daughter Amanda (Doug) Balk of Bourbonnais; six grandchildren Kiersten Kuhn, Kellsie McCune, Emma Bowen, Marcus Bowen, Lilli Balk, Lauryn Balk; three great grandchildren Kennedy Kuhn, Mia McCune, Maverick McCune; two brothers Byron Bowen of Texas, Bruce Bowen of Champaign; three sisters Beverly Spears of Kentucky, Barb (Ron) Carleton of Paxton and Betsy (Bill) Wheeler of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Bonnie Bowen; one brother David Byerley and a daughter-in-law Liz Bowen.

Bert graduated from Paxton High School in 1971. He had worked for Ford County Nursing Home for many years. He was a member of the Paxton Church of the Nazarene. Bert enjoyed country music, watching old westerns and trips to Arthur. His greatest joy was his grandchildren.
