Beryl V. Luecke, 94 of Buckley, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley with Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Buckley American Legion Byron A. Hickerson Post 432.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 12:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the church.  Baier Family Funeral Services, Buckley is handling arrangements.

Beryl was born February 6, 1927 in Woodworth the son of Edwin and Edna Schroeder Luecke.  He married Marlene Mae Boyer September 1, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley.  She preceded him in death November 5, 2006.

He is survived by a daughter-in-law Becky Luecke of Menomonie, Wisconsin; four children Teresa (Mark) Schmidt of Mendota, Jill (Charles) Engelken of LaGrange, Tennessee, Doug (Cathy) Luecke of Cissna Park; Jacqueline Weber of Lake Iroquois; 14 grandchildren  Renee Larson, Robyn Peterson, Meagan VanDeWostine, Rachel Muur, William Kitchens III, Chesley Kitchens, Kirsten Williams, Jamie Luecke, Josh Eighner, Bina Schmidt, Skyler Weber, Dalton Weber, Cheyenne Weber, Weston Weber; 23 great grandchildren and one sister Elaine Eggold of Topeka, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ray Luecke; two sons Danny and Gregory Luecke; one grandson Trey Luecke and a great granddaughter Tenley Eighner.

Beryl graduated from Buckley High School and proudly served in the United States Navy. He ran a bulk and canned milk transport business for a number of years in the Woodworth, Cissna Park and Buckley areas.  He then owned and operated Buckley Plumbing and Heating.  He and his family lived in Tolono and Sadorus for ten years before returning to Buckley in 1967.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley and a 75-year member of the Buckley American Legion Byron A. Hickerson Post 432.  He was also a member of the Buckley Fire Department.  He served on the St. John's Cemetery board, Iroquois County Board and just recently retired as Supervisor of Artesia Township.

Beryl played for the Buckley Dutchmasters in his youth and continued to be a loyal fan.  He was also a Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers fan.  Beryl was an avid horseman.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
