Beth Jane Smith McMillen, 81 of Lake Iroquois, Loda, died at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Gibson Area Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Dale Fjordbotten officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Neosho County Memorial Park, Chanute, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton.
Beth was born August 29, 1942, in Chanute, Kansas the daughter of Verlin and Joe Ann Brooks Smith. She married Kenneth R. McMillen June 3, 1961, in Wilson County, Kansas. He survives.
Along with her husband, Ken, she is survived by two sons, Brian (Terresa) McMillen of Hillsboro, KS, Gary McMillen of Martinton; three daughters, Shari Miller of Lawrence, KS, Debbie McMillen of Littleton, CO, Diana Meyers of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Janis Bonner of Newton, KS, Joy (Steve) Small of Chanute, KS; two brothers, Phillip (Valerie) Smith of Wichita, KS, Dave (Cheryl) Smith of Parsons KS, and a half-brother, Ernest Smith of Chanute, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Smith.
Beth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cissna Park and taught Bible studies. She was a master gardener and did volunteer work in area gardens. Beth was also a volunteer crop judge at the Iroquois County Fair.
She enjoyed quilting, gardening, art, painting and correcting doctors when they were wrong.
