Betty J. Ihnen, 82 of rural Rantoul, passed away at 10:13 a.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Flatville with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Huls Cemetery, Gifford.  Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Betty was born June 30, 1941, in Royal the daughter of Charley and Seana Bunting Buhr.  She married Dennis Ihnen July 3, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church, Royal.  He preceded her in death October 21, 1996.

She is survived by two sons, David Ihnen of Lizton, Indiana, Dale Ihnen of Penfield; a daughter, Carleen Lantis of Rantoul; four grandchildren Jerrod, Sarah, Corbin and Savannah; one great granddaughter, Seanna; a sister, Rosalyn (Jerry) Roosevelt of Champaign and a sister-in-law, Marie Buhr of Gifford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Delbert W. Ihnen and three brothers, Ira, Wilbert and Hervin Buhr.

Betty graduated from Ogden High School.  She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Flatville and was a member of the church choir and sewing group.

She enjoyed taking bus trips to opry shows in Branson and Gatlinburg and traveling.  Betty was a talented seamstress and loved quilting and gardening.  She looked forward to playing cards and spending time with her many good friends.
