Betty J. Wheeler, 91, of Attica, Indiana formerly of Paxton passed away at 7:04 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Graveside services will be 2:15 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2023 at Glen Cemetery, Paxton with Pastor Marcus McCollum officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells St, Paxton.

Betty was born June 26, 1932 in Clarence, the daughter of Manley and Fredia Morgan Kenner. She married Donald E. Wheeler February 2, 1949 in Searcy, Arkansas. He preceded her in death October 1, 2006.

She is survived by her children, Gary A. Wheeler of Champaign, Fred C. Wheeler of Gifford, Karen A. (Mel) Walts of Attica, Indiana, Cathy L. (Bob) Thompson of Rantoul; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and 4 sisters, Rita Baylor, Carole Birch, Linda Stonestreet, Donna (Richard) Livingston; and one brother, Mick (Janet) Kenner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Manley Kenner and Fredia Atkins; son, Donald S. "Steve" Wheeler; sister, Barbara Chaffee, and two brothers, Richard Kenner and Bill Kenner.

Betty spent her childhood in Clarence and Penfield. She attended Armstrong High School. Betty was a sales clerk for Zayre Department Store, Champaign for 24 years, Target, Champaign for three years and Prairie Gardens, Champaign for six and a half years.

She was a member of the Paxton Church of Christ.

Betty enjoyed camping, boating, collecting owls, and crocheting. She was an avid Illini Basketball and Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
