Betty K. Younker, 93 of Tucson, Arizona formerly of Paxton, died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at the Elmcroft of River Centre, Tucson, Arizona.

Family graveside services will be held at Glen Cemetery, Paxton.  Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Betty was born June 3, 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky the daughter of Jordan Dennis (J.D.) and Lois Eaton Brewer.  She married Mason Younker April 9, 1950 at Edinburg.  He preceded her in death February 25, 1985.

She is survived by a son, Howard (Cathy) Younker of Paxton; a daughter Sandra Younker-Hellman of Tucson, AZ; three granddaughters Sarah (Travis) Uden of Paxton, Jennifer (Luke) Humphrey of Rantoul, Abby (Jesse) Balk of Paxton; six great grandchildren, Mason, Morgan, Alex, Avery, Brody and Katelynn and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Joe Brewer and son-in-law, Emanuel Hellman.

She spent her childhood in the Taylorville, Edinburg and Pawnee area and graduated from Pawnee Township High School. She attended Illinois Commercial College, Champaign.  Betty worked for Eastern Illinois Power Coop, Paxton for ten years and then went on to work in the History Department of the University of Illinois retiring in 1993.

Betty and her family lived in rural Edinburg before moving to Paxton in 1957. They later lived in Rantoul and Champaign for several years before moving to Tucson in 1993.

She was a life-long member of the Southern Baptist Church. Betty was a volunteer at Carle Hospital, Urbana and the Tucson Medical Center. She also served on the Election Board of Pima County, AZ and was a member of the Computer & Genealogy Society, Sun City Vistoso.  Her hobbies included water color painting, walking, reading and collecting butterfly items.
