Harold F. "Bud" Beck, 83 of Paxton, died at 4:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Pat Allin officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton with military honors by the Paxton American Legion Prairie Post 150.

Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bud was born November 7, 1939, in Paxton, the son of Harold Floyd and Lillian Thieben Beck.  He married Cheryl Vaughn May 24, 1991.  She survives.

Along with his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by two sons, David Beck of Summer Shade, KY, Shannon (Lara) Lawless of Peotone; two daughters Heather (Tim) Lantz of Paxton, Christine (Dale) Estes of Summer Shade, KY; two grandsons, Keegan Lantz of Paxton, Ben Silver of Nashville, TN; four granddaughters, Kirra (Dominic) Brackenhoff of Paxton, Taylor Lawless and Jaiden Lawless of Peotone, Jessica Silver of Chicago; one sister, Norma Sowell of Indianapolis IN and several nieces and nephews.

Bud graduated from Buckley-Loda High School in 1958.  He served in the United States Air Force.  In 1967, he started Beck Well Drilling and the business has been in continuous operation for 56 years.

He enjoyed all kinds of sports from high school basketball, baseball and pole vaulting which he held the top ten record for until recently.  Bud was an avid trap shooter, traveling to many places and winning many events and trophies.  Then it was the love of golf, which was his passion, and the love of competition.  He had six holes-in-one and four Lakeview Country Club Championships, accomplishments that he was very proud of.  For the past 25 years, he loved traveling to Aruba and playing golf.
