Carol Ann Hildenbrand, 73, of Urbana formerly of Lake Iroquois and Thawville, passed away at 6:41 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Lutz Brauning officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeland Twp. Cemetery, Thawville.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Carol was born September 23, 1943 in Watseka the daughter of Francis and Veronica Masching Sheppard. She married David G. Hildenbrand on December 15, 1962 in Watseka. He survives.

Along with her husband, David, she is survived by two sons, Daniel (Michelle) Hildenbrand of Champaign, Jeff (Robin) Hildenbrand of Piper City; one daughter, Ann (Robert) Heaton of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Leona Shaffer of Watseka, Betty Volden of North Carolina and Mary Ott of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Carol graduated from Watseka High School in 1961. She was a bookkeeper for Hicks Gas, Roberts for 43 years. She and her husband moved from Thawville to Lake Iroquois, Loda in 1999 and to Urbana in 2015.


She enjoyed reading, flower gardening and caring for her home. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
