Carol Ann Krumwiede, 74, of Buckley passed away at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center, Paxton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 206 East Main, Buckley with Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Buckley.

Visitation will be 4:00- 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 306 E Lincoln Street, Buckley and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Carol was born June 17, 1943 in Chicago, the daughter of Edna Ecker. She married Louis Krumwiede on February 20, 1965 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley.

She is survived by her husband, Louie of Buckley; a daughter, Jill (Steve) DeAtley of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, a son, Barry (Lisa) Krumwiede of Batavia, Illinois, and five grandchildren, Kyle and Holly DeAtley and Ethan, Jacob, and Braden Krumwiede.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Carol graduated from Illinois State University in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education; in 1988 she received her master's in education from Olivet Nazarene University. She was an elementary teacher in the Onarga and Iroquois West school districts for 27 years.   She retired in 1999 which allowed her time to spend time with her family, volunteer, and enjoy life.

Carol was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley where she served as a member of the school renovation committee, a student mentor, library assistant, and teller.

Together, she and Louie devoted more than 40 years to the Fur Takers of America organization where they made lifelong friends with people from across the country. Collectively, she served as FTA Secretary and then Treasurer for over 15 years.   She received the FTA Distinguished and Meritorious Service Awards four times and was inducted into the FTA Hall of Fame in 2012. At the time of her death, she was wrapping up her work writing a column in the FTA magazine summarizing the organization's 50 year history.

Carol and Louie cheered at Illini football, basketball, and volleyball games for over 30 years and regularly attended Quarterback Club, Rebounders, and Networker events. They enjoyed road trips to away football games and witnessed the Flying Illini basketball team in Minneapolis on their way to the Final Four in 1989.   They were honorary coaches several times and were known for their "ILLINI" shirts with their friends.

She and Louie supported the Buckley Dutchmaster's baseball team and were active members of the Buckley 150th Celebration in 2006.   She loved supporting her grandchildren by watching sporting events, orchestra concerts, and other school activities.
