Carole was born September 7, 1934 in Buckley to Clarence and Blanche (Ward) Gehle. She married Raymond Wells on August 8, 1953 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley. They immediately moved to Tucson, Arizona, where Ray was stationed in the Air Force. Next, they moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where Ray finished his service. Afterwards, they returned to Buckley, where they continued to reside. Ray and Carole took many trips through the years back to Arizona, the place they loved.

Carole was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She worked as a secretary at Buckley-Loda High School for several years and then continued that occupation at Gehle Motor Sales, Buckley. Carole loved to travel and shop, basically to see new venues and new styles. She also enjoyed playing the piano and reading. One special memory Carole shared with her children was that as a child when she heard the story of Jesus dying on the cross for her sins, she was so sad, she cried.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ray; children: Susan Bugos (Roger), Coal Valley, Illinois; Stacey Buchs (Brian), Belmont, Wisconsin; and Ryan Wells (Adrea), Cissna Park, Illinois; grandchildren: Ben (Beth) Bugos, Lino Lakes, Minnesota; Brandon (Amanda) Bugos, La Fontaine, Indiana, and Nick (Jennifer) Bugos, Coal Valley, Illinois; Beau (Annie) Buchs, Galena, Illinois; Sarah (Adam) Wisner, Verona, Wisconsin; Brady (Kelly) Buchs, Belmont, Wisconsin; Skyler Wells, Autumn Wells, Spencer Wells, and Ashlyn Wells, Cissna Park; great-grandchildren: Brooke, Maggie, Judah, Eli, Gabrielle, Aaron, Kolby, Klay, and Kolt; sister: Merry Smith, West Lafayette, Indiana; nephew, David Smith, Indianapolis, Indiana; great-nephew, Ian Smith, and sister-in-law, Eileen Luttrell.
