Carolyn Jean Burton, 81, of Paxton died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Gibson Area Hospital ER, Gibson City.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton with Pastor DeDe Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott Cemetery, Elliott.

Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Carolyn was born January 6, 1944 in Henderson County, Kentucky the daughter of Irvin Duane and Mary Magdalene Floyd Higginson. She married Robert G. Burton October 22, 1960 in Fairbury, Illinois. He preceded her in death June 14, 2017.

She is survived by six children, Bonnie Burton of Houston, TX, Marsha (Bato) Barbato of Cypress, TX, Duane Burton of Paxton, Mike Burton of Paxton, Becky Burton of Paxton, Kim (Ernie) Hoopingarner of Paxton; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Joseph Hoopingarner, and two brothers Terry and Andy Higginson.

Carolyn attended East Bend Mennonite Church, Fisher. She enjoyed listening to the radio, watching gameshows on tv and loved cats.
