Charlene Dee Marsh Hesterberg, 69 of rural Gifford, passed away at 2:31 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gifford with Pastor Scott Guhl officiating. Burial will follow in Huls Cemetery, Gifford.
Visitation will be two hours before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is handling arrangements.
Charlene was born June 2, 1953, in Springfield the daughter of Charles D. and Elnora Jean Maxwell Miller. She married Armin Hesterberg April 13, 2008, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gifford.
Along with her husband, Armin, she is survived by one son, Andrew Marsh of Springfield; a stepdaughter Deanne (Bradley) Brazelton of Gifford; a stepson Brian (Melanie) Hesterberg of St. Joseph; five grandchildren; three brothers Randy (Betsy) Miller, Richard Miller and Ron Miller, all of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Connie Miller and two brothers, Charles and David Miller.
Charlene graduated from Springfield High School and from Western Illinois University with high honors. She had worked at Illinois Optometric Association of Springfield for 26 years and at DCFS for 8 years. Charlene was a volunteer at OSF Emergency Room and Salt & Light.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gifford. Charlene loved her horses and spent a lot of time trail riding and camping with horses in several surrounding states.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gifford or the Hooves of Hope, Potomac. Condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.baierfuneralservices.com.
