Clifford Charles Polson, 77, of rural Loda passed away at 1:30 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells Street, Paxton. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Clifford was born November 22, 1939 in Bellflower the son of William Porter and Ada Rachel (Neathery) Polson. He married Patricia Adkins December 11, 1976 at the United Methodist Church, Rankin. She survives.

Along with his wife, Patricia, he is survived by a daughter, Tracy (Bob) Carleton of Paxton; two grandsons, Matthew and Clayton and the newest love of his life, his great granddaughter, Stella; four brothers, Bill Polson of Paxton, Glen Polson of Paxton, Jerry Polson of Rankin, Ted Polson of Ogden and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack and three sisters, Jean, Mabel and Alice.

Clifford attended grade schools in Bellflower, Gifford and Armstrong before his family moved to Paxton. He graduated in 1957 from Paxton High School. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. He was a member of Sig Tau Gamma Fraternity and Black Knights of the Embarrass.

After graduating, he worked with Super Q Fertilizer Company where he traveled to Canada and the northeastern states and was later plant manager with Arco Fertilizer in Perdueville. He then joined Local 751 Union and worked for Lehigh Paving Company for 28 years before retiring.

Clifford was a member of I&I Tractor and Gas Engine Club, National Trapper's Association and Local 751 Union.


He cherished his time with family and friends. He loved raising livestock, trapping, fishing and playing euchre. He was an avid reader and gardener and loved to share the bounty of his garden with family and friends.
