Connie Sue Sauer, 73, of rural Paxton passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Glen Cemetery, 602 E Summer Street, Paxton with Rev. John Hauck and Pastor Tom M. Sauer officiating. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Connie was born March 28, 1948 in Alma, Georgia the daughter of Maxine D. Deen. She married Thomas Edwin Sauer December 31, 1976 in rural Paxton. He survives.

Along with her husband, Tom, she is survived by two brothers, Danny (Vickie) Swan of rural Paxton, Randy (Debbie) Swan of Paxton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dana and Sandra Sauer of Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Maxine D. Anderson and son Charles Sauer.

Connie attended Paxton schools and graduated from Paxton High School in 1966. Following high school she worked for Dr. Sauer as an Optometric Assistant. After Dr. Sauer retired Connie then worked for Drs. Flavel and Diane Heyman. She developed many close friendships throughout the years with her fellow coworkers and patients. Connie was a member of First United Methodist Church, Paxton.

Over the years she had many different hobbies which included collecting Longaberger baskets, teddy bears, Waterford Crystal, china dinner place settings, the art of Linda Nelson Stocks, and doing needlepoint.  Connie enjoyed hosting brunches for friends and family as well as having lunch with them at the Country Thyme Tea Room.
