Darren Thomas Rust, 34 of Rural Cissna Park died at 3:51 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2018, in rural Rankin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin with Rev. Jennifer Hartweg-Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Rankin Union Cemetery, Rankin.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton and one hour before the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin.

Darren was born June 16, 1984 in Urbana the son of Thomas Wayne and Barbara L. Kuchenbrod Rust. He married Nicole Reno.

He is survived by his parents of Rural Cissna Park; a son, Levi Thomas Rust; one brother, Travis (Abigail) Rust of Rural Rankin; paternal grandfather, Wayne Rust of Rural Rankin; maternal grandmother, Barbara Kuchenbrod of Armstrong; maternal grandfather, Harry Kuchenbrod of Pensacola, Florida; a niece, Adilynn, a nephew Nolan and numerous aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jean Rust.

Darren graduated from Cissna Park High School in 2002 and from Parkland College with an Associate's Degree in Diesel Mechanics. He was a diesel mechanic for Birkey's Farm Store, Hoopeston for more than ten years.

He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and turning wrenches. Darren loved to "rawk". His greatest love was his son, Levi.
