Delmar H. Steinmann, 95 of Buckley, died at 4:53 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley with Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Friday at the church.  Baier Family Funeral Services, Buckley is handling arrangements.

Delmar was born March 14, 1927, at Buckley the son of Alwin and Helena Lustfeldt Steinmann.  He married Lillian Niemann Swanstrom May 18, 1974.  She preceded him in death March 22, 1985.

He is survived by two daughters, Laurel (Kurt) Tjardes of Gibson City, Jodi (Clark) Behrens of Buckley; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two nephews and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and one sister.

Delmar attended St. John's Lutheran School and Buckley High School.  He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1945-1953.  Del was employed by Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul for more than 35 years before retiring in 1985.

He was a confirmed member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley and a member of the Buckley American Legion Byron A. Hickerson Post 432.

Delmar enjoyed playing cards and morning coffee with friends.
