Obituary

Devin Paul Marquis, 38 of Buckley, passed away at 6:36 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main Street, Buckley with Rev. Timothy Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Buckley. Baier Family Funeral Services, Buckley is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley and also one hour prior to the service on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Devin was born May 10, 1980 in Urbana the son of Stephen and Linda Ecker Marquis. He married Jessie Vaughn May 22, 2010 at First Lutheran Church, Paxton. She survives.

Along with his wife, Jessie, he is survived by a son, Landon; his parents, Steve and Linda Marquis of Buckley; a brother, Colin (Katie) Marquis of Wilton, Iowa; two nephews, Jordan Marquis, Vaughn Gentzler; three nieces, Ariana Gentzler, Aleeka Gentzler, Taylor Vaughn; special niece, Josie Kaufman; his father and mother-in-law, Ron and Liza Vaughn of Paxton; brother-in-law, Richard Vaughn of Tampa, Florida; brother-in-law, Josey (Kelsie Savage) Vaughn of Paxton; sister-in-law, Clarissa (Kevin Dettmering) Gentzler of Paxton and grandmother-in-law, Margie Hendershott of Paxton.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Tyson Marquis; grandparents, Leonard and Edna Ecker and Donald and Lois Marquis.

Devin graduated from PBL High School in 1998. He was a union carpenter out of Kankakee for four years before going into business as R and D Construction, Buckley. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley and an associate member of the Buckley American Legion Byron A. Hickerson Post 432.

He enjoyed golfing and fishing. His happy place was his vacation home in the Upper Peninsula. He was an avid Buckley Dutchmaster fan and Chicago White Sox fan. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
