Donald Lee Loudermilk, 84, of Paxton passed away at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Faith Place Memory Care, Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth.

There will be no services at this time. Burial will be at a later date in Danville National Cemetery, Danville. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donald was born June 20, 1936 in Greenwood, Arkansas the son of Dorwin Leslie and Lenora June Wyatt Loudermilk. He married Sheila Jessie Fletcher December 23, 1965 in Sydney, Novia Scotia, Canada. She survives.

Along with his wife, Sheila he is survived by daughter Maureen (Keith) Heintzelman of Paxton, son James (Tammy) Loudermilk of Dothan, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Steven (Jen) Harris, Charles Loudermilk, Justin (Jackie) Harris, Jack (Lisa) Loudermilk, Corbin Loudermilk, Michelle (Brian) Haynes, Miranda (Jacob) Reed, 12 great grandchildren, and special Hamm radio and flying friend Rob (Molly) Steiger of Paxton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorwin Lee Loudermilk and Lenora June Burger, daughter Cathy Blackwell, son Donald Lee Loudermilk, Jr. and one great grandson, Seth Harris.

Don graduated from Greenwood High School, Greenwood, Arkansas in 1954. He proudly served in the United States Air Force 1954-1978 retiring as a Master Sergeant. During Vietnam he was stationed in Malaysia where he was an instructor for the Malaysian Air Force. Don was stationed many places which included Little Rock AFB in Arkansas, Williams AFB in Arizona, Chanute AFB, and Edwards AFB in California. He was a Junior ROTC instructor for two years in Nevada, Missouri before returning to Chanute AFB where he worked in Civil Service 1980-1993 as an instructor on electrical systems and jet engine mechanics at Chanute AFB.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Paxton, Paxton Masonic Lodge #416 A.F.&A.M., and Prospect Chapter No. 367 Order of the Eastern Star, Illini Sky Riders, and the Ham Radio Club ARRL. Don enjoyed flying Pipers and Ultralight aircraft. He was a frustrated musician who tried playing all instruments.
