Donald Lyons Weitekamp, 80, of Rantoul passed away at 9:06 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Arbor Rose Assisted Living, Tolono, Illinois.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2025 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton with Father Verrier officiating. Private family burial will be in East Bend Cemetery, Fisher.
Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the funeral home.
Donald was born January 6, 1945 in Urbana the son of Al and Rita Lyons Weitekamp. He married Linda Zehr on January 23, 1971 at the Dewey Mennonite Church, Dewey. She survives.
Along with his wife, Linda, he is survived by a son, Todd (Renee) Weitekamp of Fisher; two daughters, Heidi (Dan) Grieser of Rantoul, Megan (Douglas) Hansens of Dewey; seven grandchildren, Bradley and Ryan Grieser, Luke, Delaney, and Jesse Hansens, Evan and Sidney Weitekamp; a sister, Maureen Conboy of South Bend, IN; and two brothers, Timothy (Sue) Weitekamp of Rantoul and Bernie (Mary Ellen) Weitekamp of Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jim Conboy.
Donald obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He worked as a physical therapist at Burnham City Hospital in Champaign for 20 years and Kirby Hospital in Monticello for 21 years.
Donald was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, Rantoul.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time outside whether it be running, hiking or boating. Donald was happiest when he was spending time with his family and especially loved following his grandchildren's sporting events or anything else they did.
