Dorothy Jean Bloomquist, 91; a life-long Paxton resident passed away at 3:41 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton Senior Living.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells Street, Paxton with Pastor David Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be two hours before the service from 10-12 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born March 23, 1927 in Paxton the daughter of Harry and Merle Rardin Hollister. She married John Noble Bloomquist September 17, 1950. He preceded her in death July 2, 1998.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Connally of Naperville, Lynn Elliott of Paxton; a son, Brian Bloomquist of Paxton; four grandchildren, Jason Elliott of Champaign, Neil Elliott of Naples, Florida, Erik Bloomquist of Rockford, Audrey Bloomquist of Champaign and a great granddaughter, Sway Ann Elliott.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Norma Kenny and Betty Swick and a son-in-law, Thor Connally.

Dorothy was a fourth generation Paxton resident and graduated from Paxton High School in 1945. She had worked for Zander's Woman's Clothing in Paxton and in the cafeteria of the Paxton High School.

She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Paxton and a member of several church groups. She was also a member of the Paxton Woman's Club, Ford County Historical Society and Ford County Home Extension.

Dorothy enjoyed vacationing, traveling the country with family camping in tents, foldout campers and in later years a motorhome. After Noble's death in 1998, she continued to be active in two camping clubs – Chamco Sams and TWT's. She continued to drive her 32-foot motorhome until the age of 86.

She was an accomplished knitter and crocheter. During her last few years every baby born to a Covenant Church family received a hand knit/crocheted baby blanket.
