Douglas Edward Swanson, 68, of Paxton, passed away at 7:53 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023, at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Pat Allin officiating.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Private family burial will be held at Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Doug was born July 19, 1954, in Paxton, the son of Karl and Joanne Anderson Swanson.  He married Kim Grovier September 18, 1982, at the Rantoul First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Kim of Paxton; two daughters Jessica (Chris) Bonner of Philo; Jenna Mowl of Catlin; three grandchildren, Zayne and Brandon Bonner, Audrina Mowl; six sisters, Cheryl Niccum, Rhonda (Dennis) Elson, Donna (Mike) Auld, Debbie (Dick) Vance, Lisa (Jeff) Cox, all of Paxton; Brenda (Mitch) Franzen of Rantoul; three brothers Steve (Minnie) Swanson, Brian (Tennile) Swanson both of Paxton and Jim (Wendy) Swanson of Champaign.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Diane Gagnon, Lori Swanson, Gwen Kirchner and Karen Marshall.

Doug graduated from Paxton High School in 1972.  He owned and operated Ivey Auto Body in Urbana.

He was an avid Illini, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.  He enjoyed golfing.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
