Edward "Ed" Hanson, 66 of Paxton, passed away at 5:43 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Pastor Marcus McCollom officiating.  Private burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the funeral home.

Ed was born October 9, 1957 in Champaign the son of Mervyn and Jessie Wilkey Hanson.  He married Patricia Loschen April 26, 1997, in Paxton. She survives.

Along with his wife, Pat, he is survived by two sons, Dan Hanson of Minnesota, Jim (Sara Miller) Hanson of Minnesota; a daughter, Denise Burnett of Paxton; seven grandchildren, Anthony Hanson, Kaitlyn Hanson, Logan Hanson, Greyden Hanson, Kyler Burnett, Konnor Burnett, Kase Burnett; a sister, Paula Griggs of Paxton and his father-in-law, Harry Wilson of Paxton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Helen Wilson.

Ed graduated from Paxton High School in 1975.  He worked in quality control at Baltimore Aircoil Company, Paxton for 32 years.

He was director of the Paxton Emergency Response Service, a retired Loda firefighter and a retired EMT for the Paxton, Buckley and Loda communities.

Ed enjoyed trains and was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anyone in any way he could.  His greatest joy was spending time with family.
