Edwin "Eddie" Arthur Bertram, 87, of Roberts passed away at 12:02 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018, at Piper City Rehab & Living Center, Piper City.
Private family services will be held at a later date with burial in Lyman Township Cemetery, Roberts. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eddie was born November 16, 1930 in Roberts the son of William C. and Florence Underwood Bertram, Sr. He married Elsie A. Johnson February 12, 1956 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Roberts. She survives.
Along with his wife, Elsie, he is survived by a son, Mark (Teresa) Bertram of Urbana; a daughter, Rhonda (Kirk) Rock of Roberts; 4 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dolores Kenney of Gibson City, Bev Rueck of Roberts and Judy Tolbert of Fort Myers, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Billy, Wayne, Howard and a brother in infancy, Robert.
Eddie served in the United States Army 1952-54 and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked in Civil Service at Chanute Air Force Base for 25 years, retired and went on to work at George's Gas Service, Thomasboro until 1992. He and his family lived in Roberts until moving to Thomasboro in 1978 and moved back to Roberts in 2000.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Roberts, Wagner-Davis American Legion Post 641, Roberts and the Thomasboro Improvement Association. Eddie was a handyman and always enjoyed mowing his yard and the yards of his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
