Elizabeth Mae Toye, 92, of Paxton passed away 9:42 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
There will be no services at this time, Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Elizabeth was born March 21, 1926 in rural Oakley, Illinois the daughter of Eddie and Ethel Litz Lutes. She married Thomas Dale Cornwell and he preceded her in death. She later married James R. Toye who preceded her in death in 1992.
She is survived by two daughters, Gretchen (Keith) Bisplinghoff of Dekalb, Carol Goin of Rankin; one grandson, Daniel Bisplinghoff; two great grandchildren, Audrey and Zachary; one brother, Edward (Mary Ann) Lutes of Decatur and a niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Christopher Bisplinghoff; one brother, Robert Lutes; son-in-law, Don Goin; and sister-in-law, Helen Lutes.
Elizabeth spent her childhood in Cerro Gordo and graduated from Cerro Gordo High School. She was an insurance manager for twenty years at George Carragher and H. R. Breese. Elizabeth was a member of First United Methodist Church, Champaign where she was a past officer and vice president of the Christian Women's Club. She always enjoyed participating in the annual CWC style show which was the highlight of her year.
Elizabeth loved vintage fashion and jewelry of which she had a vast collection. She bowled well into her 80's and had been a past president of her bowling league. Elizabeth collected elephants, eggs and angel figurines. She loved her dogs and was an avid reader.
