Evelyn was born November 24, 1928, at her parents' home in Loda, the daughter of Clarence and Gladys Anderson Sandhagen.  She married John P. "Jack" Plackett September 6, 1947, at her parents' home in Loda.  He preceded her in death September 4, 2010.

She is survived by two sons, John (Casey) Plackett of Lisle, Rodney (Paula) Plackett of Fisher; 5 grandchildren, Tim (Sara) Plackett, Jeff (Megan) Plackett, Brian (Annie) Plackett, Eric (Jamie) Plackett, Tracey (Kevin) Pesavento; 3 step grandchildren, Josh Hopkins, Kristian Hopkins, Jansyn (Trent) Hopkins and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Raymond Sandhagen, sister-in-law, Betty Sandhagen and daughter-in-law, Judy Plackett.

Evelyn was a proud graduate of Loda High School Class of 1946.  She worked as a beautician for six years and then worked in advertising at General Foods, Kankakee and retiring after 20 years.  Evelyn also helped her loving husband work on their farm.  They lived in Kankakee for 26 years before coming to Paxton in March of 1983.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Paxton, the Anti-Cants, the United Methodist Women and a Stephens Minister.  She was a former member of the Paxton Women's Club and the Rantoul Moose Auxiliary.

Evelyn loved to travel and winter in Florida, which she and Jack did for 12 years.  She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, playing the piano, reading and computers.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events and activities.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff of The Villas of Hollybrook and Reflections, and Transitions Hospice for their compassionate care of Evelyn during her stay.
