Fred Kellar, age 95, of Russellville, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born January 29, 1927, in Melvin, Illinois, to Raymond W. and Edith A. Rowcliffe Kellar.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2022 at Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.
He married Viola M. Jones, April 8, 1950, in Paxton, Illinois. He graduated from Paxton High School. He worked at Bush Brothers and Company and Prairie Farms before beginning his career with the Prudential Insurance Company. He retired from Prudential Insurance Company and started the Fred Kellar Insurance Agency, Inc. After selling his agency, he began his final retirement in Russellville.
He was a member of the Pottsville United Methodist Church; a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served in the Pacific during WWII. He was also a member of the Pottsville and Paxton Masonic Lodges. He enjoyed gardening, and working in his yard, and above all, he loved his pets.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; and a brother, Ronald Kellar.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Kellar; a daughter and son-in-law, Sally, and Rand Brewer; a sister-in-law, Verna Shilts; three grandchildren, Reed, Matthew, and Aden Brewer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.baierfuneralservices.com
