George Walter "Wally" Sandhagen, 63 of Tolono; formerly of Paxton, died at 6:15 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells Street, Paxton with Pastor David Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton.

Wally was born September 28,1954 in Paxton the son of George E. and Mary H. Lindberg Sandhagen.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Jean (Thomas) Harrison of Paxton; four nephews, Jeff (Bonnie) Harrison of Paxton, Tim (Kara) Harrison of Paxton, Matt (Jeni) Harrison of Fithian, Ben Harrison of Paxton; three great nephews and one great niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Wally graduated from Paxton High School in 1972 and attended the University of Illinois majoring in music. He worked for the Ford County Sheriff's Department for several years before going to work as a telecommunicator for the Illinois State Police District 10 Pesotum and retired in 2002 as the Communications Center Supervisor. After retirement, he worked in the office of the Outback Steak House, Champaign for ten years.

He was a member of the Paxton Evangelical Covenant Church and the Illini Rebounders. With his love for music, he often played the organ for different venues in the Champaign-Urbana area. Wally was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed dining out and traveling.
