Obituary

Gerald Richard "Jerry" Potter, 76, of Buckley formerly of Paxton passed away 7:29 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2020 at his home.

A celebration of life for both Janet and Jerry will be held for family and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2023 at the 103 East Bar & Grill, 103 E. Lincoln, Buckley. Baier Family Funeral Services in Buckley is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry was born June 16, 1944 in East Peoria the son of Gerald and Verneal Bauer Potter. He married Janet E. Rapp April 2, 1966 at the Methodist church in Pontiac. She survives.

Along with his wife, Janet, he is survived by two daughters, Amy L. (Felipe) Barradas of Paxton, Beth A. Doyle of Dallas, TX; one son, Chad (Melissa) Potter of Paxton; six grandchildren, Jacob Doyle, Tyler (Paige) Potter, Austin Potter, Alex Potter, Felipe G. Barradas, Kyan Barradas; two great grandchildren, Harden Potter and Runa Barradas.

He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Potter, mother Verneal Carlson, infant son Gerald R. Potter, Jr. and son-in-law Robert Doyle.

Jerry graduated from East Peoria High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Jerry retired in 2008 after 42 years from Frontier Communications. He was a member of the Buckley American Legion Byron A. Hickerson Post 432.

Jerry was a very selfless man who always put others before himself. He enjoyed playing cards, socializing and being outside. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
