Gertrude Marie "Gertie" Kolasa, 91 of rural Buckley, died at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at her home

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Loda with Father Dong Van Bui officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Buckley.

Visitation will be two hours before the funeral from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton.

Gertie was born January 19, 1932, in Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Mary Mytych Kostecki.  She married Casimer S. Kolasa June 13, 1953, in Chicago.  He preceded her in death May 31, 2010.

She is survived by a son, Casimer A. (Cheri) Kolasa of Monee; two daughters, Patricia M. (Dave Clark) Mehnke of Glendale, Arizona, Deborah P. (Herbert) Volberding of Des Plaines; six grandchildren Jenifer, Sarah, Katie, Casey Jr., Jackie, Drew; five great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Thill and Irene Lizzio; three brothers, Clarence (Phyllis) Kostecki, John (Beverly) Kostecki and Leo Kostecki.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Wanda Young and two brothers, Robert and Richard Kostecki.

Gertie had worked for her son in his business, K & K Auto Body, Chicago.  She and her husband moved from Chicago to Buckley in 1998.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Loda and Pheasants Forever.

She loved her farm and enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables.
