Gwenneth R. Speirs, 97 of Cissna Park; formerly of Paxton, died at 9:06 a.m. Monday, January 1, 2024, at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana.

Gwenneth was born February 6, 1926, in Newton-Stewart, Scotland the daughter of Robert and Mary McGarva Munro.  She married Thomas Speirs March 23, 1949 in Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire, Scotland.  He preceded her in death January 4, 2008.

She is survived by one son, Thomas C. (Meg) Speirs of Cissna Park; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Linda Speirs.

Gwenneth grew up in Kilmacolm, Scotland.  She and her husband came to the United States from Scotland in 1960.  They lived in Calumet City and Plymouth, Indiana before moving to Paxton for three years and then to Cissna Park for the past 14 years.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching PBS and was a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan.  Gwenneth loved animals, especially dogs, and supported numerous animal organizations.
