Hazel B. Kirchhoefer, 93, of Paxton passed away at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Paxton.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 210 W. Center, Paxton with Rev. John Hauck officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Hazel was born December 31, 1923 in Potomac the daughter of William Wrightly and Bessie Dewey Strong. She married Floyd Harris and together they raised five children. She later married Arthur Kirchhoefer. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2001.

She is survived by six children, F. Richard (Susie) Harris of Lake Wales, Florida, Bonnie (Bob) Jeswein of Hernando, Florida, Connie (Darrel) Ballinger of Paxton, Patricia "Patsy" (Tim) Phillips of Paxton, Donna Neuhalfen of Putnam, Otis (Maureen) Kirchhoefer of Schaumburg; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mildred Cleary and Helen Strong.

Hazel moved to the Dewey Farm north of Claytonville as a baby and graduated from Cissna Park High School. She started working at Chanute Air Force Base in April 1956 as secretary to the chief of maintenance and retired in 1984. She raised her family in Rankin and moved to Paxton in 1964.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Paxton, the United Methodist Women and a former member of the Paxton Woman's Club and the Paxton BPW. Hazel enjoyed traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
