Jakub "Jake" Thomas Pietkiewicz, 44 of Paxton, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 407 W. Pells Street, Paxton with Father Nestor Sanchez officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, at Baier family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m.

Jake was born February 22, 1980, in Szczecinek, Poland the son of Jerzy and Zofia Lamorski Pietkiewicz.  He married Laura Unfried June 11, 2005, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Enfield.  She survives.

Along with his wife, Laura, he is survived by a son, Lucas and a daughter, Miriam; two sisters Renia Paquette of Albany, NY, Elizabeth Koprek of Pittsfield, MA; two brothers Miroslaw "Mirek" (Iwona) Pietkiewicz of East Greenbush, NY, Michal (Rachel Lane) Pietkiewicz of Vienna, VA; his father and mother-in-law, John and Connie Unfried of Norris City; an aunt, Irene Skotnicki, an uncle Tadeusz Lamorski and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jake graduated from Joliet West High School in 1998.  He received a bachelor's degree in IT from Eastern Illinois University.  Jake was Vice President of Information Technology & Operations at The Frederick Community Bank of Paxton.

He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Paxton and the Father Paul Benson Council #8229 Knights of Columbus.  He was also a member of the Paxton Park District's Board of Commissioners and currently serving as the vice president. He previously served as a Cub Scout Committee Chairman for Paxton's Pack #35.

Jake enjoyed listening to podcasts, working on projects around the house, tinkering on his computer and working in his vegetable garden.  He was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan. Jake loved spending time outdoors with his family camping, kayaking and hiking.
