James H. "Jim" Harper, 88, of Fisher passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 5, 2024 surrounded by his devoted family.

Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the River Valley Church of Christ, 17 Owl Creek Ln, Fisher followed by a Masonic Service at 3:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the church with Pastor John Scott and Rev. Dr. Daniel Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, Fisher with military honors accorded by the Fisher AMVETS Post 52. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jim was born October 30, 1935 in Fisher the son of Louise Bayler. She preceded him in death.

Jim married Pat Eichelberger on June 30, 1956 at the Church of Christ, Fisher.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Pat Harper of Fisher; son, Jack H. (Debbie) Harper of Monticello; and two grandsons, Justin Harper and Cole Harper both of Monticello.

Jim spent his childhood in Fisher and graduated from Fisher High School in 1953.  After his marriage to Pat, they lived in Paxton and Rantoul before moving to Fisher in 2000. He served in the United States Army December 1959-December 1961 and was stationed in El Paso, TX.

Jim was a mechanic at Rogers Chevrolet, Rantoul, a service writer at Sullivan Chevrolet, Champaign and retired from Illinois Power (AMEREN) in 1996 after 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the Fisher AMVETS Post 52, a member of the Scottish Rite in Danville, the Rantoul Masonic Lodge #470 A.F & A.M. and the Mohammed Shriners of Peoria.

Jim enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, boating, gardening, dancing, playing cards and shooting pool.  After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida for 30 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
