Janice M. "Jan" Schumacher, 80, formerly of Thawville, IL and Santa Clarita, California passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 in Lamar, Oklahoma

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells St, Paxton. Private family burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Buckley.

Jan was born April 15, 1944 in Fairbury the daughter of Emil Arnold and Lily Iola Kietzmann Hethke. She married Earl Robert Schumacher July 14, 1973 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Thawville. He preceded her in death January 16, 1980.

She is survived by her daughter, Henrietta (Travis) Pugh of Lamar, OK; two grandchildren, Micah Pugh and Joshua Pugh both of Lamar; four brothers, Bob (Barb) Hethke of Judsonia, Arkansas, Floyd (Jean) Hethke of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Larry (Cel) Hethke of Gifford, Roger (Kathy) Hethke of Thawville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; four brothers, Arnold, Everett, Wesley and Alvin Hethke and three infant siblings.

Jan graduated from Buckley-Loda High School and obtained an Associate's Degree from College of the Canyons, Santa Clarita, California. She worked at Wal-Mart for 20 years. Jan lived in Santa Clarita, California from 1980-2003 and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Santa Clarita. She loved Jesus and walked with Him daily.

She enjoyed playing card games and reading. Jan dedicated a lot of her free time helping numerous neighbors and friends.
