Julie Ann Gerdes, 78, of Paxton passed away at 8:40 a.m. Monday, December 25, 2023 at her home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Julie was born August 10, 1945 in Champaign the daughter of Clifford Elvin and Laverne Augusta Brethorst Johnson.

She is survived by two sons, James Potts and Jon Potts both of Paxton; step-daughter, Angela Bigham of Paxton; 10 grandchildren, Nicole, Shanna, Jessica, Trent, Brandon, Patrick, Paul, Sindra Lynn, O'Quinn, Angelo; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Doug (Sue) Johnson of Sibley, Randy (Holly) Johnson of Gibson City; sister, Pam Gardner of Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey D. Potts; brother, Terry Johnson; and sister, Karen Lynn Pettit.

Julie worked at Switchcraft and then later ITW, Paxton for many years.

She enjoyed square dancing, bowling and loved to read. Julie was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
