Karen J. Marshall, 76 of Paxton, passed away at 5:06 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023, at Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton with Rev. Pat Allin officiating.  A private family burial will be held at Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be two hours before the service from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Karen was born March 26, 1946, in Paxton the daughter of Karl and Joanne Anderson Swanson.  She married Donald L. Marshall April 1, 1964, at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.  He preceded her in death October 1, 2012.

She is survived by three daughters, Kristen (Grant) Pfister of Jacksonville, Florida, Dawn (Dave Thomas) Marshall of Streamwood, Carrie (Gregg) Halm of St. Augustine, Florida; eight grandchildren, Andrew and Stephen Bryant, Nathan and Garrett Halm, Kayla, Kurtis and Kendall Sliwka and Maclain Pfister; three great grandchildren, Aleiyah, Connor and Brooklyn; six sisters, Cheryl Niccum, Rhonda (Dennis) Elson, Donna (Mike) Auld, Debbie (Dick) Vance, Lisa (Jeff) Cox, all of Paxton; Brenda (Mitch) Franzen of Rantoul; four brothers Steve (Minnie) Swanson, Doug (Kim) Swanson, Brian (Tennile) Swanson all of Paxton and Jim (Wendy) Swanson of Champaign.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Lori Swanson, Diane Gagnon and Gwen Kirchner.

Karen graduated from Paxton High School in 1964.  She and her husband owned and operated Don Marshall Plumbing and Heating for 35 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family which included attending sporting events, playing cards and gaming.
