Larry Lutz, 85 of Fisher, died at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Osman with Rev. Jeffrey McPike officiating.  Burial will follow in Willow Brook Cemetery, Fisher.

Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church.  Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Larry was born July 12, 1939, in Urbana the son of Albert and Mable Blue Lutz. He married the love of his life, Esther Y. Bundy September 18, 1965 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Champaign.  She preceded him in death November 19, 2019.

He is survived by two sons, Brent (Cora) Lutz of Champaign, Brad (Tiffani) Lutz of Fisher and one grandson Drayton Lutz who he loved very much.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Dorothy Welborn.

Larry was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, Missouri Synod.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Osman and served on the church council several different times.

He delivered the Daily Pantagraph for two years.  The day after his 16th birthday, he worked part time for the Fisher Reporter.  He graduated from Fisher High School in 1958 and joined the United States Army Reserve 328th Quartermaster Corps.  After graduation he took basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and became a Mess Sergeant.  While in the Army Reserves, he received the Chicago Tribune Outstanding Achievement Award.  He returned home and went to work for the Gibson City Courier.  He then became Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Everett Hedrick for two years.  He worked for the University of Illinois Printing Division for 34 years; retiring as superintendent of printing services in 2002.

Larry enjoyed bowling, gardening and photography. He loved to vacation in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
