LaVerne Helen Christian, 85, of Thomasboro passed away at 11:53 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Peace Lutheran Church, 200 W. Arnold Ave, Thomasboro with Rev. Michael Stoerger officiating. Burial will follow in Beckman Cemetery, Rantoul.

Visitation will be before the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday also at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is assisting the family with arrangements.

LaVerne was born October 29, 1940 the daughter of Louis and Freda Miller Baker. She married Don Christian July 30, 1960 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Urbana. He preceded her in death March 16, 2016.

She is survived by a son, Dale (Joan) Christian of rural Rantoul.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Don.

LaVerne graduated from Rantoul Township High School  in 1958. She was a bookkeeper at R. L. Brownfield Co. in Urbana for 13 years and Warner Bros. in Rantoul for 18 years before retiring in 2002. LaVerne was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Thomasboro and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 60 years.

She was a very sociable person and enjoyed playing cards and attending local country music shows with her friends.
