Loretta Mae Overholt (Aden), 82, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at 10:10 a.m. at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth, Illinois, with her beloved husband and devoted daughter by her side.

She was born on July 3, 1943, at Burnham City Hospital in Champaign County, Illinois, to Harm and Lily (Baker) Aden. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and remained a devoted member of the Lutheran Church throughout her life.

Loretta graduated from Rantoul Township High School in 1961 and began her 46 year long career with Pekin Insurance in Champaign, Illinois. Through years of dedication and hard work, she advanced to the position of Senior Claims Examiner before retiring in 2008. She took great pride in her work and in the relationships she built throughout her career.

On November 30, 1968, Loretta married the love of her life, David Overholt, at Peace Lutheran Church in Thomasboro, Illinois. Together they shared more than 57 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.

A faithful servant to her church and community, Loretta devoted countless hours to helping others throughout her life. Service was one of the defining characteristics of her life and a reflection of her deep Christian faith. She taught Sunday School for many years at American Lutheran Church in Rantoul, sharing her faith and love of learning with generations of children. She served as President of Rantoul Church Women United, coordinated the operation of the Rantoul Clothing Center at Bethany Park, and helped organize and support the Needy Children's Christmas Party in Rantoul. In recognition of her extraordinary commitment to serving others, Loretta was honored as the Rantoul Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year in 2016. While these are some of the roles she held, they represent only a small portion of the lives she touched and the difference she made throughout her life. Whether through her church, her community, or simply lending a helping hand wherever it was needed, Loretta's kindness, compassion, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

When she wasn't organizing church luncheons or volunteering, Loretta cherished time with her family and found joy in many creative hobbies. She loved creating cross-stitch gifts to celebrate the special moments in the lives of family and friends, quilting with the women of the church for the annual church bazaar and for those in need of comfort overseas, crocheting baby blankets to welcome new babies, and making handmade cards and wrapping Christmas gifts for veterans at the VA hospital. Whatever she created was made with love and almost always intended to brighten someone else's day.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harm and Lily (Baker) Aden, and her brother, Lloyd Aden.

She is survived by her beloved husband, David Overholt of Danforth, Illinois; her daughter, Angela Overholt of Thomasboro, Illinois; her sisters, Elaine Holzhauer and Wilma Roth; her sister-in-law, Kathy Gallagher; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Loretta will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, steadfast devotion to her family, and lifelong commitment to serving others. Her quiet strength, gentle compassion, and genuine kindness touched countless lives and has left a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue through all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Funeral services will be held at American Lutheran Church in Rantoul, Illinois on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ryan Sage officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Baier Family Funeral Services in Paxton, Illinois.
