Louis William "Bill" Meents, 79, of Paxton, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton.

A private family burial will be at Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Bill was born October 19, 1943, in Paxton.  He graduated from Buckley-Loda High School in 1961.

He married Grace McCabe on June 22, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paxton.

Bill was an excellent mechanic, diagnosing and fixing vehicles for over 50 years.  He was very generous sharing his knowledge with all who had questions and concerns with their vehicles on any issues that he was asked about.  He helped with anything that he could.

He helped his son Tom build a mud racer and was very instrumental in helping him in his career as a World Champion Monster Truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Chloe Meents, a niece, and both sets of grandparents.

Bill is survived by his wife, Grace, daughter, Kristine (Bill) Elliott, his son, Tom (Darcy) Meents; a sister Alice (Denny) Tucker; six grandchildren, Mike (Alyssa) Elliott, Beth Elliott, Katie (Joe) Nierstheimer, Hannah Meents, Jared (Kayla) Eichelberger, Colton (Morgan) Eichelberger; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
